I hope you all had an amazing Christmas! I ate soooo much food, and got a guitar :). I am so happy!

Last week I had mouth surgery... not so fun. My mouth is a pretty complicated place as far as teeth are concerned... I had an impacted tooth, and yadda yadda yadda. But anyway, the tooth had to be removed. I HATE NEEDLES! I was so much more worried about the IV than the actual procedure. I SURVIVED! WOOT WOOT! The surgery was completely successful and I am so grateful. The only complication was being stationary for a few days-- the anesthesia totally tired me out! My family made fun of me for not being able to walk by myself :) I have to admit, it was a bit humorous :)

MAKE UP TIP: New Year's Eve is coming up, of course... SO here is an awesome tip to make your eyes totally pop. Layer blue or purple mascara ON TOP of black for a subtle burst of color. It draws attention to your eyes without making it look like you TRIED to. The most impressive beauty is the kind that seems effortless, right? ;) You can get blue and purple mascara for $7 at Victoria's Secret, or Target carries blue Great Lash mascara.

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE/ DAY!!!

Peace out, Life-lovers!

Ren

Get your pencil and scantron!

Ok, so I'm always on the go. Well, not always, 'cause sometimes I sleep. But wherever I am, I relate things to movies. Someone will say to me, "This is like that one movie with the guy from Wanted" and I'm like "You mean James Macavoy or Morgan Freeman?" and they're like "The young guy" and I say "James Macavoy" and they say "ya, what's he been in" and I say "Atonement" and they say "OH MAN I LOVED THAT MOVIE". Pretty much how my life is. Without the constant AND THEN I SAID's plaster'd round the convos.

So I decided to wield my executive power (my what?) and create a quick quiz that ya'll can feast your film loving eyes upon!

When you're finished, post your answers as a reply to this blog. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

HERE WE GO!

1. What was Steven Spielberg's first STUDIO film?

2. Bryce Dallas Howard, star of Lady In The Water and Spider-Man 3, is the daughter of which famous director?

3. True or False: Brad Pitt started as a professional Background Actor (or extra as some call it), and would often skip jobs to audition.

4. Which of these directors holds the record for most Best Director Oscar wins- John Ford (The Searchers, Stagecoach), David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club), Steven Spielberg (if you don't know him, stop taking this quiz now)?

5. What film series is the ONLY series to win Best Picture for Part One AND Part Two?

6. What was the first film to win Best Picture?

7. What won Best Picture in 1989?

8. True or False: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers won 11 Oscars, including Best Picture.

9. James Dean died during the filming of what movie?

10. Infamous director Alfred Hitchcock never won an Oscar for Directing, but a movie he directed did win Best Picture. Which one was it?

This may seem hard, but trust me, it's fun. If you don't agree, then let me know. Look for more quizes, coming very VERY soon!

I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!

First off, I'd like to apologize for not writing for a long time. I've been workin TONS and that's a good thing, but I shouldn't forget about you guys too!

Anywho, I love winter. I am a Minnesotan born and bred, and Minnesotans endure quite harsh winters. In fact, at one point in late winter last year, it was colder in MN than it was SIBERIA.

And whenever I think Christmas, I think of celebrating the Birth of Jesus, MN, snow, turkey, Grandma's house, presents, and going to the movies with the fam. And usually there's like ONE good movie to go see. NOT THIS YEAR!

This year there are 8 movies COMING OUT ON CHRISTMAS DAY! Not to mention the 5 movies that are already out...so there's plenty of choices for me and my family as well as you and your family! So, if you've seen every movie released up until now, and you wanna know what to go see on Christmas Day, then here's my pick for the ONE film to go see tomorrow:

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

I have been looking forward to this film for almost a year now, and I can't wait to see it! The production wrapped a well over year ago, and you may be thinking, "Why is this movie coming out now and not WAYYY earlier?" Well, films generally do take around 9 to 12 months to be edited, dubbed(voice over and the like), and have finalized FX finished. With this film, Brad Pitt plays Benjamin Button--a man who is born old and ages backward. And while there are techniques to make a young man look old, it's kinda hard to make an older man look young. So with this film, they had to spend 9 months doing anti age FX techniques AFTER production wrapped. 9 MONTHS! That's partially why I'm really excited to see this movie, but also to watch the great team of Brad Pitt and David Fincher, who've teamed up with Se7en and Fight Club. This film will do very well at the Box office, and I expect numerous Oscar nominations to come around!

But if Brad Pitt looking old and young doesn't strike your fancy, then check out Bedtime Stories, Valkyrie, Marley and Me, The Spirit, Last Chance Harvey, The Tale of Desperaux, Seven Pounds, The Day the Earth Stood Still, and Yes Man. All of these films are rated PG-13 or under, so enjoy!

And again, Merry Christmas, and expect a couple new posts before the new year! Expect a quiz in there somewhere! Hehehehehehehehehe

Lakers :)

Hey people :)

I got to sing the National Anthem for the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday!!! Woot Woot! Omigoodness, it was incredible. Possibly one of the most fantastic moments of my life!

When I sang, the entire Staples Center went dark, except for a spotlight on me. Everyone was silent-- SO much pressure, right? But then, I started to sing. The acoustics in that place are downright amazing. All I could hear was my voice just resonating through the building. It sounded so rich! Words cannot describe the absolute bliss it was to sing there.

Oh, and I know it sounds lame, but the Lakers are tall. I mean, like GINORMOUS. I know everyone is all, "duh," but honestly, in person, I was a bit overwhelmed with the height. I'm pretty tall, but I felt like a midget. That was a new feeling for me.

AND to top it all off, my family and I got court-side seats to watch the game! Hello, AMAZING!!!

I cannot believe how blessed I was to be able to perform there. It is now my personal goal to have a concert there :) he he.

Peace out, Life-lovers!

There is alwayws the person that is closest to the incident who takes it the hardest. Fortunately in this situation she is an amazingly grounded individual, so she understands and is taking it all REALLY well. I guess as well as anyone could.

Then there are the people that were close to her who take it hard enough to say they are going to change their entire lives. They alwasys say things like, "This put things really into perspective." Most of the time I find that these people will change things for a little amount of time and then go back to their old ways.

Then there are the people like me, who knew this person but aren't super close to the situation. I'm more tied in through knowing the people that were really close to the person who is gone. I've been struggling with how much do I approach the people and talk to them, and how much to I just give them their distance so they can work things out on their own. It's even harder for me since I've gone through losing someone very close to me. I feel like I can really relate to them and actually mean it when I say, "I know how you're feeling or I understand what you're going through." Some people say that and you just look at them thinking, "No you don't." So, this is my dilemma. Right now I'm just kind of sitting in the middle. I know I don't want to bring it up to often and reopen the wounds every day, but I also just want the people to know that I'm here for them whenever they need someone to just listen.

Sometimes, that's all you need is someone who will just listen.

Palm Springs/ Twilight/ Lipgloss:)

Hey you Guys!

I just got back from Palm Springs. The weather was so beautiful :). I also saw Twilight. I have to say I loved it. I am a super big fan of the books, so I was a bit wary of seeing it in the movies, but I was very happily surprised. In my opinion, the movie was pretty darn close to the book. And who doesn't love a vampire story?! I mean, come on! :)

ALSO, in Bath & Bodyworks, I tried a new lipgloss. It is amazing, and stays on so long! Check out the Mentha Lipgloss that has a bit of color in it.

I can't believe it's almost Christmas!!!

Yay :) I'm going to go decorate.

Happy Holidays :)

On a happier note, I have to confess that I went to a concert this weekend. Now most people would be embarrassed to write this for all of you to read, but I'm not at all. I went and saw Hanson on friday night at the House of Blues in Los Angeles! Ya, I know. Everytime I've told somebody about it all they do is laugh and say something about "mmmbop." But that was ten years ago! They are an extrememely good band, and the concert was crazy good.

I also want to tell you guys about a great cause that Hanson told us about at the concert. There is a website/company called Toms Shoes. They make shoes and for every pair that you buy, they send a pair of shoes to a child over in Africa. The shoes are really cool and it's for a great cause so I encourage you all to stop by the website if you have a chance.

www.tomsshoes.com

Hope everyone is great,
